Donald Weber’s Gamma City, Into the Half-Life takes us to the small town of Zholtye Vody in Ukraine where the effects of our world’s runaway consumption practices and the increasing need for energy, permeate all aspects of life for locals. Over 60% of its population of 60,000 has been hospitalised due to a variety of radiation related illnesses. While we debate coal vs. nuclear, energy production and sustainability, the damage continues to spread out of control for this town and many like it.
