The motto of Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion reads ‘Bangladesh is My Pride’. Yet for more than 1000 people, this ‘pride’ has resulted in their death. Crossfire shows perhaps the last scenes glimpsed by the victims and Shahidul Alam reminds us that in a democratic country each of us should expect protection under law. When those we entrust with power forget this, each of us is at risk.
